Status Quo

We experienced another IEP without incident last week. It was FMO's tri-annual. The speech assessment performed by the online therapy provider at the end of last year was recent enough to be adequate. The Services Coordinator administered academic tests. FMO actually performed better on those than he has on any standardized tests in the past. This is indicative of some of the huge leaps of progress he has made in the past year. The School Psychologist didn't contact us until too close to the IEP date, so we decided not to have her do a rushed assessment, but between the other two assessments, there was still plenty to continue to qualify FMO for services.

We all agreed on the changes to the Measurable Annual Goals. We discussed ways to improve the time FMO spends with the Music Instructor each week. MAO and I expressed our minor dissatisfaction with the online speech therapy, mainly technically related. The School Director informed us that she'd be signing on with a new service provider in the 2012-2013 school year, and we can switch if we want.

The Director showed us tons of educational apps on her iPad. She let FMO use it while we were talking, and he played spelling games for the first hour of the meeting. Everyone is so supportive and easy going. They really "get" us. It is a dream come true.
