We had a wonderful 11 day vacation in Ajijic, Mexico at the home of my dad and step-mom. The weather was just perfect, and FMO went swimming everyday in their backyard pool overlooking Lake Chapala. MAO taught FMO to swim without a life jacket in just a few days. By the time we left he was diving under water to retrieve toys off the bottom and holding his breath.
We had many great outings including a day trip to Sayula to visit the knife-maker district, and a trail hike where we discovered ant-lion holes. I got on a horse for the first time in 9 years, and FMO rode for the second time ever, and loved it! MAO made a big "pilgrimage" hike to the stations of the cross and to Indian ceremonial grounds high above the town.
FMO had the best time swimming and playing and getting spoiled with constant grandparent attention. MAO and I even went out a few times without FMO, and we had our first date night out alone in 6 1/2 years. It was a memorable trip, and hopefully one we can do again not too long from now.
