Write. Write. Write. Write. RIGHT!

We have been really concentrating on fine motor activities in our home studies to build hand eye coordination and dexterity. Since the beginning of the school year, FMO has begun to sew, weave, and paint objects. He is cutting with scissors and crafting many art projects.

For the past year, I have been teaching FMO to write, guiding hand-over-hand. He has a wipe-clean board book for practicing letters, numbers and shapes. In the last month, he began to trace the forms independently. Since then, his handwriting has greatly improved. He will really sit and focus intently on pen control, and seems to really gain satisfaction from his accomplishment. Last week he wrote his first birthday card (still tracing the lines, for now). It feels like a huge developmental and academic leap of progress!
